NEW AT NGAP! CANINE INFLUENZA VACCINE
NGAP is one of the only vet facilities in the United States with the new Canine Influenza vaccine. This vaccine is initially given in two shots, 2-4 weeks apart, and then once a year after that. The two-course injection will be $50 and is now available at our clinic. If you would like to schedule an appointment, please call our office at 215.331.7918.
Recently in Philadelphia, some of the local humane societies underwent a lockdown due to an infectious disease. Initially it had not been determined whether or not it was a bacterial disease or whether it might be Canine Influenza.
Canine influenza has been popping up in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York as of late and is much more dangerous than kennel cough. It is spread easily through the air and off of your clothing. One of the head researchers for canine influenza is a good friend of mine, Dr. Cynda Crawford, at the University of Florida. In speaking with her the other day, she recommended that all of the dogs in this area be vaccinated for canine influenza.
