Volunteering

National Greyhound Adoption Program is fortunate that many groups donate their time to help us in many ways. We are also fortunate from time to time we get donations of products that were used at conventions and left over at pharmaceutical companies. We attempt to alter the product in some way so that it becomes beneficial to either National Greyhound Adoption Program or Dutton Road Veterinary Clinic. In December, all of our clients will get a free clock that needed a label placed over an misprint to advertize our clinic. This required an assembly line type of process. The steps were as follows: someone took the clock out of the box; the next person removed the old battery; then someone cleaned the battery socket; then the next person removed the clear face of the clock; afterwards, the next person applied the Dutton Road Veterinary Clinic label; and the final person put the clock back in the box.

Hi Pat!

I wanted to send a quick note to say THANK YOU for having our staff out at NGAP last week. They really enjoyed the time they spent working with your organization. I've attached some photos for you.

We look forward to working with you again in the future!

Thanks,

Tiffany

There are lots of things we re-label for our use. We thank New Foundations Charter School (pictured), AAA, and Vanguard that helped with the clock relabeling in November and December as well as Jeff Pitcow for the clocks and the tins that contain the following items:

  • Night facemask
  • Packets of Simply Mint and Sweet Chamomile tea
  • One set of earplugs
  • Instructions on how to use Lunesta (a sleeping medicine that gave me a terrible aftertaste the following morning)
  • The Story of our Greyhound Lapel Pin

The redirected pin of a greyhound came from a picture printed during 1796 in Philadelphia. The original size of the image was approximately 18 inches square. It was reduced in-house many years ago by an employee; may we remember Vivian Holloway. It was printed on label stock, carefully cut, and then placed over a pin that said "Registered Nurse". Now, we have our own greyhound lapel pin courtesy of Bruce Billows. If you have something en masse that we can reuse as we have with the above three items, let us know.
